i love movies. i saw a grand total of 71 films for the first time. not bad compared to 2017’s sad 44. but not quite as successful as my 2016 when i saw over 100. 2018 was a solid year nonetheless.
here’s a list of my favorites (in no particular order) …
SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE (visually this film is like nothing i’ve ever seen. i absolutely loved everything about it and i hope you saw/see it!)
EIGHT GRADE (i didn’t go to public school and i was never an eight grade girl, however, i resonated and sympathized deeply with this story and character. it’s a beautiful, awkward and sweet film)
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT (not even huge MI fan, but this film couldn’t have been made better. it is a masterpiece of an action film.)
WON’T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR (tears. happy tears. such a beautiful tribute to a beautiful man.)
THE INCREDIBLES 2 (loved every genius second of it. jack-jack! so. good.)
GAME NIGHT (i was 100% entertained. funny and well-built through and through)
A QUIET PLACE (i really loved this one and i feel like seeing it in the theaters was the best way to see it.)
PADDINGTON 2 (awwww what a lovely film! see it!)
OVERLORD (heading into the theater, i had zero clue what kind of movie overlord was, and i think that added to my enjoyment.)
AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR (yes, i’m a sucker for the MCU… but unlike any film i can think of, bringing that many characters from that many different successful films and storylines, all into one cohesive story was unlike any other movie experience i can think of. plus, we all went in to see a movie about a heap of our favorite superheroes and instead, we saw a film about primarily one character, thanos. our superheroes were supporting and that entirely worked for me. in the MCU, the avengers films aren’t my favorites, but i thought this one was fascinating.)
